One of the most popular methods for monetizing any blog is through the use of affiliate marketing. However, things have changed quite a bit since I started playing with this format more than 10 years ago. So, I suppose I have to relearn how to maximize the effort.
Even though 2020 was quite a mess for many people, it was the best year I’ve had for most of my websites. Probably because people were home more to read the content. In fact, I have a few subscribers on YouTube specifically because of the pandemic.
One of my goals for 2021 is to get CrossingColorado close to where it was before Google torpedoed it. The site isn’t completely sunk, and I plan on rebuilding the blog. It’s part of paying as much attention to myself as I do clients.
So, one of my goals for 2021 is to update and refresh content on all of my blogs. I would love to see if I can get the same benefit as I produce for my clients. And part of my 2021 drive is updating older posts on WriterSanctuary.
After the algorithm change in 2019, Google sunk my flagship blog, Crossing Colorado. Since then, I’ve put a lot more effort into building WriterSanctuary as a brand. However, I would still like to refurbish the blog in 2021 and put my skills to the test.
So, I figured since I was revamping some content to see if I can get a better ranking in search, I’d start with WriterSanctuary. After looking back at my articles from 2012, I can see just how far I’ve come. It’s always a good idea to update old content. Even if it’s from nearly a decade ago.
Quite a few people manage to bring in a decent amount of money from their websites. Unfortunately, I’m not one of them. However, I could make more money from the blogs if I didn’t care where it came from. And that’s my dilemma.
