This week, I put a lot of effort into getting things done. After coming to the conclusion that I wanted more out of myself, everything just kind of fell into place. It’s amazing what happens when you have a good, long conversation in the mirror about who you are and where you want to go.
This past week has been nothing short of productive!
The New Schedule is Working Well
Since I decided to prioritize what I want out of 2023, I created a schedule centering around those goals. And so far, it’s been a wondrous addition to my week.
I’ve been able to put a lot of quality time into rewriting VII, editing Kingmaker, writing posts for Vocal, and a whole lot more. The only things I’ve really sacrificed throughout the week are a few blog posts and some videos.
Though, I still would like to get some other content out on the sites and YouTube channels. You can’t really expect success if you don’t put in the work to grow.
In any case, it looks like this new scheduling dynamic is going to help me achieve a lot of things next year. I’m incredibly excited to see what I can create.
When Will VII Be Completely Rewritten?
According to NaNoWriMo.org today, VII will be completed by July 29th, 2023. That’s one of the things I like about keeping projects on NaNoWriMo. I get a handy-dandy report that tells me a few things about my writing habits and goals.
Anyway, I’ve put quite a bit of time into VII this week and plan on keeping up the momentum until it’s done. In fact, I’ve turned it into a bit of a game…to see if I can finish the book before NaNoWriMo says I will.
I have an editor going over each chapter of VII, and they will be highlighted with a graphic. That way, you’ll know what sections I’ve rewritten and what chapters still need a lot of work.
If you plan to read VII on Wattpad in its current state, keep in mind that I’ve come a very long way since I wrote this book back in 2016.
Once I’m done rewriting VII, I plan on polishing up the other stories on the Wattpad account. I’m also looking forward to writing some fan fiction next year. Needless to say, 2023 is going to be huge for me in terms of writing books of all kinds.
Now, if people like them or not is another story altogether.
Getting a Bit More Time Next Week?
I only have one more article to write for one of my clients for December. That means I’ll be able to utilize four hours next week for my other writing projects.
If it wasn’t for the most recent experiment with Vocal, I’d have almost the equivalent of an extra day!
In any case, I’ll probably use the extra time to work on both Kingmaker and VII. The sooner I can get either one of them done, the sooner I can start on one of my many other story ideas.
I’m still toying with the idea of trying my hand at Kindle Vella, seeing how I can just write episodes once per week after the initial burst of a couple of chapters. Though, I’m not 100% sure how Kindle Vella works…which is why I want to give it a try.
If anything, trying out Kindle Vella will give me a few blog posts and videos to produce. So, no matter what, I win.
Plus, I would like to continue working on the story I have on Inkitt. Not to mention rewriting and expanding the other stories on Wattpad.
I guess if I want to get technical, I also have a folder on my computer full of ideas that I want to see published in some form. Needless to say, I have no shortage of things to write.
Looking Forward to Some Marketing
One of my biggest issues is marketing myself. I’m just not very good at tooting my own horn when it comes to my personal projects. That’s kind of funny considering I’ll be the first to tell you that I am awesome as a freelancer.
Of course, that also comes from 10 years of being a successful writer for a long list of clients.
When it comes to my own books, blogs, or videos, I do the bare minimum when it comes to marketing. If I even do that much.
One of the things I’d like to dive into for 2023, though, is improving how I view myself and what I bring to the table. That’s an incredibly tall order coming from someone who has a case of impostor syndrome.
Still, I’m not going to get very far very fast if I don’t start changing how I view myself and my work. I’m getting better, and have a bit of confidence when it comes to storytelling. But I still have a bit to work on.
Nonetheless, I need to start marketing myself better. Perhaps I’ll take a few “professional-looking” author photos. Seriously, the pictures I use now are along the lines of my personality, but leave much to be desired as a professional.
Next Year is Definitely Going to Be a Record Breaker!
At the rate things are going this week, I am relatively confident that I’ll hit one million words next year. Between the client work and the major progress I’ve been making on the books, it’ll be a record-setter, to be sure.
In any case, I’m going to start 2023 strong and look forward to seeing what the next 12 months produce. As long as I can keep the distractions to a minimum and actually stick to my schedule for once, there will be some great things happening soon.
