There are times when I wish I wouldn’t try to pile so much onto my plate. But it’s all things I would love to accomplish. It’s similar to how you might have a junk drawer in the kitchen of stuff you “plan on fixing” someday down the road. But are you really going to fix those things?
Regardless, things are still looking up and I feel that 2023 is going to be a record-breaking year for me. Then again, every year is a record-breaking year to some degree.
I would just like 2023 to be along the lines of epic. Truth be told, I haven’t had the most stellar run since October of 2019. I’ve lost a great deal as a parent, stepson, and brother.
In any case, I am determined to keep the progress moving forward while getting more out of my writing.
Restructuring My Day Once Again
I still haven’t quite worked out the kinks in my daily routine before the new year starts. See, this is why I start my New Year’s resolutions toward the end of November. It’s all about getting things right before January 1st.
The trouble I’m having today is deciding which is more of a priority. I have several that are equally important to me, such as publishing my next book and producing content for my primary blogs. After all, the blogs are generating income.
Not to mention that I would love to get back to publishing videos on YouTube.
It’s like trying to decide which child eats last with the risk of running out of food by then. Well, that’s kind of a dark way of putting it, but it’s an apt metaphor.
Every one of my projects is important to me to some degree. And not finishing one makes me feel like I’m failing that part of my life.
This is what happens when you keep thinking you can handle everything all at once.
Time to Dive Into Mindomo a Bit
One of the things I plan on doing this weekend is to dive into the mind-mapping app, Mindomo. I use Mindomo quite a bit for planning out blogs and such. It’s a great way to build a visualization of what you want to accomplish.
Then, I’ll put those things into practice to build whatever I’m working on. In this case, it’s going to relate to scheduling my day better.
What I love about using Mindomo is that I can add elements to each point of what I need to complete specific projects. That way, I can implement a strategy that will help me get the most out of my day.
Ok, so, I just like playing around in the app. I find it a fun way to plan out what I’m doing next. It’s almost as enjoyable to me as setting up a new spreadsheet for a personal case study.
There are days when I think I probably should have been a scientist instead of a writer.
Still On Track to Break Writing Records
Despite having a lull in my week, I’m still on track to do some greatness for myself. And it gets me pretty excited to see just how much I can actually get done when I put in the effort to make things happen.
First of all, I am going to blow my monthly word count record out of the water. I set this in October at 80,135, and yes, I even went back through every spreadsheet since 2012 to find the most words I’ve written in a month.
Currently, I’m on track to hit just under 100,000. Well, as long as I keep up the momentum of writing and publishing my works.
Secondly, I am on track to break my words for the year since keeping track of the blog posts and YouTube scripts. Though, thanks to a very crappy first half of 2022, I’m only going to break this record by a couple of thousand.
Still, any victory is still a victory. Even if I break the record by a single word, it’s still a notable accomplishment, in my eyes.
A New Story for the Vocal Experiment?
I’ve started the Vocal Media experiment this week. The idea is to see if writing three times per week for three months makes a real difference in readership or generating revenue.
I already know that writing on Vocal pales in comparison to what you can achieve with an actual blog. But not everyone has the upfront cash to start their own website.
Besides, sites like Vocal are great places to practice writing of any kind.
Since Vocal encourages creative writing, I’ve decided that I’ll start writing a new story on Fridays. I’ll call it Friday Fiction where I’ll write about a 1200-word episode.
I actually have a pretty good idea about how to set these up, which shouldn’t take much more than an hour to write. Essentially, they’ll be like the episodes of Despair that I upload to YouTube. Only, I won’t have to worry about recording the audiobook or rendering the video.
So, if you’re interested in this next story, follow my Vocal profile. I might go so far as to share them on social media. That is as long as the editors for Vocal keep publishing my stories in a timely fashion.
Let’s Swing for the Fences Next Week!
There are only three, complete weeks left in December. A lot can happen in that time, as long as you put in the effort to accomplish your dreams. In this case, I want to get a large portion of VII rewritten while editing my next book.
So, off to Mindomo I go to see if I can come up with a good content strategy for next week. With any luck, I might be able to hammer out something that will serve me well in 2023.
Let’s keep the forward momentum going, regardless.
