Being Productive

Even though I didn’t get a lot of actual writing done this week, I’ve had a chance to set up all kinds of awesome things. Not to mention getting back into making regular YouTube videos. Still, it looks like I’m about to grind through a lot of awesomeness soon!

The trick is to maintain this level of excitement. The moment you start wallowing in the negatives, it’s pretty easy to get stuck.

Then you wind up wasting a day doing nothing but watching Frasier episodes on Hulu while eating an entire bag of Javachip Oreos.

Finishing Kingmaker by Halloween

One of the things I wanted to do before November is to finish writing the first draft of Kingmaker. Then, I want to spend NaNoWriMo working on rewriting VII from Wattpad.

I’m actually not far away from finishing the novel. I am estimating a 90,000-word book, but it may be a bit shorter. It all depends on whether I feel the story has been told by then.

In any case, I’ll only need to hammer out 743 words per day to meet my goal.

According to my personal averages of writing creative works, this goal should take me less than an hour per day. I’ll schedule an hour block in Asana for good measure, not to mention anything I write during the evenings and weekends.

I’ve already set up the new goals and such in Reedsy, so, let’s see if I can commit to being done by the end of October.

Then the real fun for the book begins – editing!

A First Look at Campfire

This week, I gave the Campfire writing app a spin. I’ve decided to start using it to write Despair so that I can get a feel for what it has to offer. And so far, I’m kind of impressed with the app.

It doesn’t have some of the more elaborate goal-tracking abilities of Reedsy, but it does have several other features that I will undoubtedly use.

For instance, it has a notepad, character development, and a slew of background information I can use for just about anything. In fact, it looks as though it was built more for roleplaying folk.

In any case, I look forward to using Campfire more in the future as I write each episode of Despair. I might just upgrade it and use the full version to write Skeletal on Inkitt.

On Track to Break Words Per Year Record

A few weeks ago, I was starting to doubt that I’ll be able to break my record for the number of words written in a year. Well, outside of my prime days of working with Textbroker.

However, after the blog posts and stories I’ve written today, it looks like I’m still on track to breaking my personal best. Though, it’ll only be by a few thousand words unless I crank out some great content on the weekends.

With my push to finish Kingmaker, rewriting VII, the Inkitt story, and Despair, it might actually be possible to close in on one million words.

We’ll have to see, though. A lot can happen over the course of three months.

WriterSanctuary.com is Ahead of Schedule…Again

One of the things I wanted to do before the year ends is to get all three of my major blogs back on a regular publishing routine. After changing my day around a bit, I finally got WriterSanctuary.com back on track.

Unfortunately, I had to change its publishing schedule to twice per week. I simply don’t have the time to publish more, especially if I want to get my creative works done.

A large part of this is because I am working to fix CrossingColorado.com. It needs a lot of content, a lot of fixes, and a new theme. So, I’ll spend a great deal of time working on that website throughout the coming months.

In any case, I’m looking forward to seeing if a consistent schedule for the blog improves visibility in Google as it did back in 2018. The algorithm has had a lot of adjustments since then.

Getting Excited for Next Week

It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited about upcoming projects. Not only will my next book be published (before Christmas, hopefully), but I’ll be working on polishing up VII.

Plus, I’ve been having a lot of fun with the new writing apps I’ve come across.

What upcoming projects are you excited to start, finish, or work on?
