Recently, I had to start over due to a few drastic changes in my life. I lost my job, had to move from my house, and put the vast majority of my stuff in storage for the time being. Since then, I have moved to Maine and explored the areas near Bangor (obviously). And I can truly say that I love it here.
Today is my 50th birthday. For half a century, I’ve been living on this rock, trying to do what I can to make the best out of a very chaotic existence. Due to recent events, the chaos is dialed up a bit more than normal, to the point of starting anew.
Currently, I am in the process of setting up a new blog focusing on anthropology. The hardest part is coming up with a name and a domain name for the website. All of the cool ones have been taken. Nonetheless, I’ll be setting up a new website in the coming week.
Daniel’s body swung gently from the tree in the hot breeze of the Colorado Territory, as the rope tied to the tree branch held his bulbous body. Ernie had hunted down the man who had killed his wife and daughter and found a morbid sense of pleasure watching the man swing.
Recently, I lost my final freelancing client to generative AI slop. Well, it was actually a long time coming. I had a feeling the company was going to shift in this direction back in 2023. Slowly but surely, my job was diminished for a myriad of “cost” reasons. And all of this got me thinking, maybe I’m done with freelancing.
You know you’re getting old when you start to think in terms of decades. And my life has been a long one thus far. I’m turning fifty in a couple of months, and it’s not easy looking back and realizing that I’ve lived for half a century. I’ve experienced so many things, both good and bad, and don’t really know what the future holds. Then again, no one does.
School takes up a huge chunk of my time throughout the week, as it should. That means I haven’t had a chance to dump a lot of time into various forms of content, such as blog posts and YouTube videos. Since it’s Spring Break next week, I’m going to try to use that time to get a few things ahead.
The first week of March is virtually in the bag, and I’m having one of my better months to date. As long as I keep up the momentum, there are a lot of great things on the horizon. I just gotta make sure I’m still trudging along at a realistic pace for myself to avoid burnout.
February is about over, and I haven’t been able to meet any of my goals for the month. With one week left, time is running out. I can’t necessarily say it was a failing month, though. Like always, I managed to get a lot of things done in the background. And I had an especially good week during the workshops at the university.
It’s been an exceptionally busy and chaotic week. Then again, when aren’t they? Just when things look like they’re running smoothly, your girlfriend’s apartment floods, and you have to evac a couple of cats. Still, things are progressing as well as could be expected for 2026. I just wish chaos would take a vacation.
